Project Description
Veterans’ Housing or Victory Homes make up an important part of the Canadian Architectural tradition. In all over 30,000 houses were built across Canada through a program under the direction of the Wartime Housing Corporation which would later became the Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation.
The clients wanted to renovate the original footprint while providing an identifiable addition to the back. The use of a diagonal view corridor was integrated in the plan to “stretch” the sense of space towards the backyard of these traditionally compact homes.
