Project Description

Located in the Township of Clearview in the County of Simcoe, the rural plot of more than 5 hectares is intended to retain its agrarian function while gaining a new single family home.

The project seeks to provide a house rooted in a modern tradition, but tied to the geographical context and local architectural language in the region. The challenge was to create a unity from both the natural and built forms on the site and their different characteristics and functions.

An existing Berm centered on the site was retained as a wind barrier and landscape feature. The new Driveway, Workshop, and House were then situated to the east and a horizontal scheme created to emphasize design relationships between the volumes.
